The mission of the Amesbury PTA, in common with those of the National PTA, is threefold:

  • To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.
  • To rein the standards of home life by assisting parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.
  • To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

End of School Year - Thanks for a Great Year!!!!

Jun 19 2008 - 11:30pm

We would like to review some of the things the PTA did this past year and thank everyone who made it possible-

The PTA has provided over $13,000 in financial support so far this year to
fund fields at both schools and to bring in terrific assemblies like
Techsploration and Pumpernickel Puppets (Tara Nelson).  The PTA also offered
over $3,500 in financial support for schools in the form of teacher gift
cards, and school donations, First Day of School event, Principal's
Coffees, Amesbury Candidates Forum (Julie Amery), Are You Smarter than a 4th
Grader, Excellence in Education, Field Days, 4th grade celebration. We had some
great events for families:  A welcome back Ice Cream Social (Tara Nelson), a
swashbucklin' Mother Matey Pirate Palooza (Dee Cote, Sherri Ziomek, Linda
Lynch), a fantastic Family Fun Fair (Linda Lynch, Dee Cote, Sherri Ziomek),
an educational and rewarding Science Fair and Star Party (Julie O'Neill).
The awesome After School Enrichment Program (Cindy Russell, Janet Wetherbee)
offered 36 classes to 454 students.  Families were kept busy and active
during Vacation Breaks (Lisa Cassidy, Linda Lynch) with trips to CoCoKey
Water Resort, rollerskating, swimming and Chunky's Movie Theater.
Teachers were blown away by two spectacular Teacher Appreciation Luncheons
(AnnMarie Holbrook, Tara Nelson). Our Fundraising Chair (Linda Lynch) went above
and beyond this year to bring back some "fundraising favorites" as well as
some new money-raising ventures.  As always, our Square One Art fundraiser
(Jessika Welch) was popular and successful.   And a thank you to the PTA
board members whose organization made this all possible: Julie Amery, Cindy
Russell, Deb Jancewicz, Kathy Rutter, Dee Cote, Gail Browne, Sharon McAfee
and to all you UNBELIEVABLY INCREDIBLE volunteers!
