PTA General Meeting Minutes March 12, 2008 at CES Cafeteria @ 6:30pm

Attendees:

AES: Kathy Rutter, Cindy Russell, Gail Browne, Lisa Cassidy, Tracey Aldrich, Carey Creps, Sherri Ziomek, Dee Cote

CES: Linda Lynch, Deb Jancewicz, Kerri Dalton, Tara Nelson, Lea O'Brien, Janet Wetherbee, Julie O'Neill, Jean McCarthy, Julie Amery

1.)   Reviewed 2009 Proposed budget - same as that in February's board meeting - announced it would be voted on at the next general meeting in May.

2.)   Vacation activities

Rollerskating - Newington, NH - Wednesday, April 23rd, 10:00am-12:00pm - cost $3.00/person including rollerskates

Swimming at the YMCA - Haverhill, MA - Friday, April 25th, 1:00pm-2:00pm, advanced registration required

Also, reminded people we had a Coco Key day set up for April 13th and that tickets were still available.

3.)  Science Fair - Julie O'neill - 81 people are enrolled to date, the deadline to sign-up was extended to Friday, 3/14.  She reviewed the up and coming dates and times with everyone in attendance.

4.)  Open Positions -

President - 1 year to finish out term -

In-School Programming - this person would ideally be detail oriented  - be able to work with spreadsheets to keep track of everthing

Ice Cream Social - usually held the first full weekend of school year - get volunteers from the town - teachers, fire dept, police dept, school committee

Teacher Appreciation - 4 days - two for each school - one in December and one in May - Tracey Aldrich expressed an interest in running it for AES

Membership - mostly busy in the fall - collect forms, money, and enter in database.

5.)  Discussion about how to get more involved in the PTA

Have a Kindergarden welcoming committee

Get teachers to advocate for the PTA

Put out a monthly calandar of events

Make PTA pins and wear them at school age events around town

6.)  Tara Nelson motioned to adjourn the meeting, Janet Wetherbee seconded the motion, vote was unanimous to adjourn meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm
