PTA BOard Meeting Minutes 05/06/08 @ AES at 6:30pm

Attendees:  Kathy Rutter, Cindy Russell, Janet Wetherbee, Julie Amery, Deb Jancewicz, Gail Browne, Linda Lynch, Julie O'Neill, Sherri Ziomek

1) Gail Browne motioned "to donate $200.00 to the Excellence in Education Committee".  Cindy Russell seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous to approve the motion.

2) Budget - see attached - In looking at what is currently in the budget for money and what we think we will be paying out by the end of the year, it looks like there will be about $15,000.00 going into next year.  We usually like to start the year with $10,000.00.  So the question i s what should we do with the additional $5,000.00?

Julie Amery made a motion "to allocate $5,000.00, in surplus money, for ACE grants for the 2008-2009 budget".  Deb Jancewicz seconded the motion.  The vote was unanimous to approve the motion.

3)  Spring fundraiser - Linda Lynch - Yankee Cangle - As of the time of the meeting all but two orders have been delivered.  There have only been 4 problems so far.  Jared Beneveto, the topseller at the Cashman won the raffle of the overnight stay for 4 and free admission to Coco Key Water Resort.  Three AES families won the drawings for the $10.00 gift certificates (Phat Cat, Hodgies, Sals).

April Coco Key activity - 140 people attended the April event.

4) Linda Lynch made a motion "to pay the $480.00 deposit to hold November 10th, 2008 as the date for next year's Coco Key fundraising event as soon as possible".  Gail Browne seconded the motion.  The vote was unamimous to approve the motion.

5)  Upcoming events -

Teacher Appreciation lunches - CES May13th and AES May 14th.

Principal's coffees - CES May 21, 2008 from 9:00am-10:00am / AES May 22, 2008 from 9:00am-10:00am

Volunteer Party - Still planning on Thursday, June 5th at the Barn, with a backup of Thursday, June 12th.

6) Event scheduling for next year -

Ice Cream Social - Friday, September 5th, 2008.

Mother/son party - "Fun, fun, fun with your Son, son, son" is the theme - Saturday, November 22, 2008.

7) General Meeting agenda -

Next year's budget vote.

Vote for new President

Introduce new committee members

Present a tentative calandar for next year's PTA events

As an incentive to get more attendance at the meeting we will give everyone who attends "1 early After-School Enrichment class signup for 1 child and entry into a drawing to win a free After-School Enrichment class" to be picked at the end of the meeting.

8) Julie O'neill motioned to adjourn the meeting.  Linda Lynch seconded the motion.  The vote was unaimous to adjourn the meeting.  The meeting was adjourned at 7:55pm.
