PTA Board Meeting December 10 @ CES 6:30pm

Attendees:
Sherri Ziomek, Janet Wetherbee, Dee Cote, Deb Jancewicz, Cindy Russell, Julie O’Neill, Gail Browne, Carey Creps, Jane Hoggard, Jean McCarthy, Tara Nelson.

ASE:
Janet W. and Kimberly Putney will be coordinating ASE.  Thursday January 8th signup night 6:30-7:30pm @ AES.  Close signups online Sunday night January 11th.  Classes January 19th-February 13th, 4 week session and Monday classes may be 3 classes because of MLK day.

ACE:
Julie Amery couldn’t come tonight. Notice went out in the polys asking for 2 parent volunteers to join grant committee.
Grant applications will go out mid January and will go to committee anonymously the following week.
Have principals email teachers as a reminder of the grant application process and add to Email applications to Gail Browne, web@amesburypta.org  She will be prepping the applications for committee.

 

Science Fair:
Julie O’Neill
Star Party still undecided between Friday and Saturday, and looking into budget if we can get a traveling planetarium or something similar.
Curious Creatures booked for 2 hours during drop in Science Activities., will need to check with Middle School Principal Michael Curry to make sure it is allowed in Middle School verify liable.
Show - Mr. and Mrs. Fish discuss ocean science.
Dean Wetherbee making logo, will sell t-shirts with logo before the science fair and during the science fair.  Will sell leftover T-shirts from last year for discount during fair.
Leave boards for teachers in the main office to try to get more teacher involvement in science fair.  Also we will open up science fair to community groups, boys scout and girl scouts as longs as groups are elementary school age and predominantly Amesbury kids.  Teacher and community groups projects will be non-competitive.
Science Fair information night will be Wednesday January 14th   7-8pm CES café.
February 6th deadline for submitting proposals.
Display board pickups start week of February 9th .

 

Spirit Wear:
Deb J.
AES does spirit wear sales, CES doesn’t.  CES doesn’t have a logo. Deb is looking into Spirit Wear Sales for CES.  AES uses Creative Designs, they only do clothes and get $1 per item sold.  PTA talking about taking over spirit wear sales at both AES and CES and adding additional products to sell, keychains, tote bags, beach towels, bumper stickers.

 

Budget:
Dee Cote
Fall Fundraiser a few hundred still to come, due to check bounce and re-imbursement for pizza parties from fundraising company. Starting to spend money on field trips and in-school programming.  Co-Co Keys made $623, Coins For Cause Donation and first check from Shaw’s fundraising.  Square 1 Art doing well this year, we will send a Thank You Note to Mrs. Greenfield – art teacher.

January Meeting: Wednesday January 28th 6:30-8:00 @ AES. Deb J. will book the room.
March and May General Meetings
We wish Cindy Russell all the best in her move, she will be greatly missed!
