1. New positions/ Those that need to be filled:
In-school programming - Gail Browne
Cashman VP - Carolyn Tremblay (mlcharette@msn.com)
After-school Enrichment - if Kimberly Putney moves, Dawn Black would be willing to take this position.
Fundraising - Lara Heline, with Linda Lynch's help
Web Mistress - Jessica Welch - she plans on doing a spruceup of the whole website
Secretary - Dawn Pelletier
2. ASE - Spanish / Children's Book Week
A teacher at the high school volunteered offering a Spanish or French program that could possibly be offered as an after-school enrichment program - it would run for all three sessions. Sherri, Dee, and Kimberly will arrange a meeting with her to discuss the possibility.
Carey-Ann Davis from Envelop is putting together a Children's Book Week the week of 5/11/09. Maggie Sundae is donating treats. She has asked if the PTA will promote it. We decided we would put a notice in the Poly next week making people aware of the event the following week.
3. Spirit Wear Update - Kerri Dalton
The orders should be coming in next week. We made about $20.00 from the sale. The profits next year should be higher because there were a lot of one time setup charges and minimum order requirements that were not met. Next year Kerri will limit the choices to make sure we meet the minimum requirements. Also, for some reason people didn't seem to know about the sale. Hopefully, next year people will be more intune. The plan is to sort into bags and send them home with the children.
4. Teacher Appreciation
Next week: CES Wednesday May 6th AES Thursday May 7th
This year has a "beach" theme. We are looking for donations of beach related items to put in gift bags. Stephanie, Jane, Linda are organizing. This year they will be renting a frozen dink machine for non-alcoholic frozen drinks.
5. Volunteer Celebration @ the Barn tentatively June 4th, Thursday. Dawn Pelletier and Carolyn Tremblay volunteered to decorate the room (budget $100-$150)
6. May General meeting - Wednesday, May 27th @ AES at 6:30pm - We will be electing officers and voting in next year's budget at this meeting. The names of the nominees as well as the proposed budget will be posted on the web site with a reference to the website in next week's poly.
June Meeting - Tuesday, June 16th at 6:30 @ Sherri's house.
8. Gift for Peter Hoyt - Peter Hoyt, principal at CES is retiring. Sherri motioned that the PTA fully fund a bell in honor of Peter Hoyt (up to $400.00). Julie O'Neill seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
9. ACE committee - Julie Amery, the chairperson for this committee, and her committee developed a list of criteria for the next ACE awards. They would like to present it to the PTA board. Hopefully, having a better defined criteria will make it easier for the next committee.
10. Principal Coffee's -
CES - Deb Jancewicz and Carolyn Tremblay will put it together . The new CES principal would like to be a part if that can be coordinated.
AES - Sherri Ziomek and Kristin Dore will put it together -
11. Budget - see attached - the current budget is attached as well as the proposed budget (which also needs to be voted on at the May general meeting). There aren't any major changes to the proposed budget. Next year will not have ACE grants. This years budget looks in line. The In-school programming and field trip money is beginning to be spent. The Yankee Candle Fundraiser made more money than budgeted.
12. In-school Programming - Kerri will send a letter to the teachers that aren't using the in-school money to see whether or not they intend to use it during the remainder of the school year. If not, then we may send out a letter to the other teachers and offer it on a first come first serve basis to use prior to the end of the year.
13. Monthly Calandar - there was discussion that we would really like to see the monthly calandar next year - we thought perhaps that was something Dawn Black may be interested in doing.
14. Julie O'Neill motioned to adjourn the meeting. Jean McCarthy seconded the motion. The motion was unanimous to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 7:52pm.
