Teachers Needed For Afterschool Enrichment Classes
The PTA is looking for instructors interested in teaching a class during the Winter Session of the After School Enrichment (“ASE”) Program. This session runs for five weeks and instructors are paid a stipend of $250 for each class taught. As an ASE instructor, you would teach a class in a topic of interest to you one afternoon each week for the five weeks. Classes will be starting the week of March 5th, 2012 and ending the week of April 2nd, 2012. Class hours are from 3:15-4:15 pm. (Please note: there is an early release day on Thursday, April 5th and no school on Friday, April 6th. If you are offering a Thursday or Friday class the session would run for 4 weeks with a stipend of $200.)
The deadline for providing me with information about the class you want to teach is Wednesday, January 25th. Please provide a brief (one paragraph) description of the class, maximum class size, grades (K-4) that the class is open to, which day or days you will be available to teach the class and an estimate of the cost of any materials that will need to purchase for the class. As a general rule, a minimum of 10 students is required in order for a class to run. Should the enrollment of a particular class not meet this threshold, it will be left to the discretion of the PTA as to whether or not to cancel a class.
Please be aware that as the instructor of an ASE class, you are expected to be present in the classroom when students begin to arrive and to take attendance each day. You will be provided with a class list and room assignment prior to the beginning of classes. Because most students come to their ASE class directly after school dismissal, you need to make arrangements to be at the school no later than 3:00 pm, even though class does not officially start until 3:15 pm. If a student is absent, you are expected to contact the responsible person for that student (as indicated on the class list) to make sure they are aware of the student’s absence. You may want to contact the Office first to see if the child was absent from school as well. And finally, you must remain with the students until each has been picked up from the program by his/her parent or guardian.
You may Tana Brennan by phone at (978) 388-7205 or by email at tana_rob@verizon.net if you have any questions or to submit your class description.
Thanks and I look forward to a great Winter ASE Session!
